PSMA radioligand therapy (Pluvicto)
Targeted radiation now approved across metastatic prostate cancer.
What studies found
Approved before chemotherapy in March 2025 after cutting risk of progression or death by 59% versus switching hormone drugs. On July 31, 2026, FDA approved it with hormone pathway drugs for PSMA-positive metastatic hormone-sensitive cancer.
The catch
Overall survival in the pre-chemotherapy trial was not statistically better, partly because many control patients crossed over. Common side effects are dry mouth, fatigue and nausea.
What to do
Ask whether a PSMA PET scan makes you a candidate.
